MGM CITICENTER VDARA HOTEL Sustainable Strategies MGM was presented with several "green" material options for the the potentially Gold LEED Certified Vdara Hotel. Working with the design team at Two Twelve Associates, two wayfinding signage options addressing sustainability were developed. |
|
Option 1 Directory and directional signage made of conventional glass, as well as some inventive unconventional materials were proposed. Panels made of highly durable and handsome Paperstone was integrated with glass for the hotel lobby signage. Paperstone is made from 100% post consumer paper bound with non- petroleum based phenols, and is formaldehyde free. Paperstone is certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council and the Rainforest Alliance and has low emitting VOC content. Signage for guest suite floors combined rapidly renewable bamboo blocks and Eco Resin panels. The bamboo selected is made of strips laminated together using a hot press process with a Low VOC adhesive. The Eco Resin panels are made from acrylic with post industrial recycled content and can be upcycled at the end of their life. | |||||
